A new mobile game based on the globally popular idol group "BTS" will be officially released worldwide on the 24th. Related industries predict that Netmarble will enjoy the "bulletproof" halo effect with the IPO of BTS' agency Big Hit Entertainment along with its new "BTS Universe Story."
◇ Exceeding the limit of previous works..."Amy, here comes a new mobile work that's going to captivate."
According to related industries, Netmarble's new mobile product "BTS Universe Story (Developer NetMarvel Monster)" will be officially released in 173 countries and regions around the world at 11 a.m. on the 24th. The game is a story social game based on the intellectual property rights (IP) of the idol group BTS. The key is to create a story and share it with other gamers, which is a game of "fan pick" that can be seen among idol fandom.
This is the second time for Netmarble to play mobile games based on the BTS IP (Intellectual Property (BTS). Although it released a mobile game called "BTS World (Developer Take One Company)" in June last year, it performed unexpectedly poorly. Although BTS World was a huge hit in the early days of its release due to the power of its fan club "Army," it has now been pushed out of the top 300 list of Google Play Store sales.
However, related industries predict that the new product will perform better than the previous one, given that it is not an external development but a self-developed work through its subsidiary, Net Marble Monster. In addition, in the case of the previous film, the BTS members' due diligence and videos were the main contents, and in the case of the new film, the game was considered to be a sandbox-type game in which gamers themselves participate in the development of the game.
◇ Promote listing of Big Hit...Thanks to Net Marble and BTS, we're going to have a "bop hojae."
The IPO of Big Hit Entertainment, BTS' agency, is also expected to play a significant role in the rise in the corporate value of Netmarble. In May 2018, Netmarble spent a total of 2014.31 billion won to buy a 25.04 percent stake in Big Hit. Currently, Big Hit Entertainment is preparing to be listed on the KOSPI within the year, with the company's corporate value estimated by the stock market estimated at around 3 trillion won to 5 trillion won. If Big Hit's IPO succeeds as expected in the stock market, the value of Netmarble, which is listed as a major shareholder, will also be revalued.
Recently, Netmarble has been in the spotlight for its successful IPO of Kakao Games. Previously, Netmarble invested 50 billion won in 2018 to secure 5.63 percent of Kakao Games. On the same day, the value of Kakao Games' stake held by Netmarble is about 180 billion won.
Meanwhile, in addition to "BTS Universe Story," Netmarble is also preparing to release its mobile-collecting MMORPG (Multi-Access Role Playing Game) "Seven Knights 2 (Developer NetMarvel Nexus)." Seven Knights 2 is a work that inherits the fun and sensibility of "Seven Knights," a popular IP of Netmarble, and deals with the world after 20 years of its previous work. The film will be released in the fourth quarter, and pre-registration will begin on October 7.
